Reading the numbers
- Ranks are positions among the 130 ranked councils. Positions in the middle of the table are sensitive to weighting, so quote the band or the likely range alongside the rank. How the ranges work.
- Methodology is stable: measures and weights change only in a new, dated version. Figures move at each data refresh.
- Not every council has every indicator yet. The
coveragecolumn shows the share of the overall score that could be calculated.
Sources and licence
The underlying figures come from official publishers (MHCLG, DEFRA, ONS, the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman and others), mostly under the Open Government Licence v3.0. The publisher and source link for each indicator are in indicators.csv. Please attribute the original publisher for the figures and Council Rankings for the scores and ranks.
